The outcome of a 3 week residency at the Museu do Traje in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.


Rachel Cohen worked with Brazilian artist Gisel Azevedo in response to the collections of traditional local costume and the tools of a rural tradition of textile production. They drew from objects in the collections and experimented with the language of embroidery.


Yoke/Canga was hung in the museum and also worn in a performance during the town’s festival of Nossa Senhora d’Agonia.
